Recently, Lite-On Technology (2301) reported that it has completed the world's first Optoelectronic Semiconductor Product Carbon Footprint Declaration and Environmental Product LED Linear high bay light, which a comprehensive Environmental Product Declaration and can be used as a base for improving the environmental impact of Lite-On's optoelectronics (LED) products.
The Optoelectronics (LED) Product Carbon Footprint and Environmental Product Declarations follows ISO 14025 standards, ISO 14040 series standards, Optoelectronic Semiconductor Product Category Rules and PAS 2050 standards. It focuses on the product's environmental impact and energy/resources consumption through optoelectronic semiconductor life cycle studies, including the raw material production/extraction methods of suppliers, material led high bay light manufacturing, chip and main component manufacturing and optoelectronic semiconductor packaging/testing. The contents of this Environmental Product Declaration include optoelectronics (LED) products carbon footprint, raw material consumption, energy consumption, water consumption, pollutant production, waste production and air pollution.
Recently, a leader of Taiwan-based PTTC (passive device maker Polytronics Technology) noted, with lower demand, the company would delay the scheduled expansion to the end of 1Q11, which had planed to expand its monthly production ability for TCBs (thermal conductive boards) used in LED backlight units of LCD TVs to 100,000 square meters in the end of 2010.
