which is helping local councils around the UK cut energy usage

Earlier this year, Harvard Engineering won a Queen’s Award for Enterprise, within the Innovation Category. It won the award for its wireless street light management system, LeafNut, which is helping local councils around the UK cut energy usage and reduce carbon emissions.

The system allows local authorities to manage their led high bay light without having to controversially ‘switch off’. The system is used by councils trying to reduce their carbon footprint whilst ensuring there is adequate lighting on roads and public areas.

The iLite is a mobile, portable, inflatable LED floodlight. It is freestanding, battery operated and cordless and is ideal for temporary use in a variety of situations such as outdoor sporting events. Weighing less than 10kg, the iLite takes only three minutes to set up using patented “rigid air” technology and provides light brighter than a 300W halogen floodlight for up to three hours. The flexibility and ease-of-use of the iLite is a result of the seamless combination of its portability with the reliability and durability of the OSRAM HPML AD module that is the light source of the iLite system. The iLite is produced by Air Structure International.

According to Philips ,the home lighting system is a complete LED lighting kit that has been designed to provide low-cost, highly efficient bright light for households and small businesses. The central solar panel-charged battery pack powers two LED lights. A full day's charging in the sun (8 hours) will provide enough light for a whole evening.
